Where you trained: Mostly in Dublin from 2000-2010 (Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin & The Children's University Hospital, Temple Street) with two years of research (MD) from 2002-2004 and a one year Fellowship in Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Ohio (2008-2009)
Why you sat the exam: Was studying and sitting the Intercollegiate FRCS (Paed Surg) around the same time and felt it was reasonable to try to pass the FEBPS while prepared.
How you felt during the exam: Nervous but enjoyed the challenge.
How you felt when you were announced as the winner of the best candidate award: Delighted as it was an unexpected surprise.
What, if anything, receiving the award has done for you and your career: More a sense of personal achievement rather than a direct effect on my career but it always helps to have additional qualifications on my CV.
