Part one

 

From 2026, the Part One exam will be held only once per year as a multisite exam in March.

The examination is made up of 100 multiple choice questionnaire taken from:

• Anatomy, physiology and embryology
• Pathology, microbiology, genetics and immunology
• Clinical history, examination and operative technique
• Clinical data interpretation
• Radiological and imaging investigations
• General paediatric surgery
• Paediatric oncology
• Neonatal surgery
• Genito urinary surgery
• Paediatric trauma and burn care
• Paediatric critical care
• Statistics, research, audit, history, and ethics
