When the EBPS initially started the European Register for Paedatric Surgeons. European pediatricians were invited to complete an application form to the board for inspection.
Once the details had been verified by the board, the successful surgeons were placed on the European List of Paediatric Surgeons.
For this small fee they received an official certificate and their name was placed on the Paediatrics Register.
The EBPS has the authority to organise an examination to certify candidates who have completed their training in paediatric surgery in centres recognised by the European Board.
The European Examination was designed for all trainees pediatricians who wished to be certified and have reached a standard that is acceptable to the European Board.
They should have completed all their pediatrics training in a recognised training centre in Europe for pediatricians.
