Introduction
Welcome to the Examination Section of the European Board of Paediatric Surgery (EBPS) Website.
The Examination Board
The EBPS has the authority to organise an examination to certify candidates who have completed their training in paediatric surgery in centres recognised by the European Board.
It is the responsibility of the Examination Board of the EBPS to ensure that candidates are eligible to submit for this registration, organise the examination, adjudicate on the results and recommend successful candidates to the EBPS for certification.
At present the Register held by the European Board of Paediatric Surgery is different from the National Registers of Specialists held by the European countries. The EBPS Register has no legal status but ensures a high standard of candidates who have completed their paediatric surgical training in Europe. It serves as a bench mark and a gold standard which most paediatric surgeons should strive to achieve.
This website was designed to facilitate all trainees in paediatric surgery who wish to seek information about their eligibility as well as details about the curriculum.
It contains information about the two parts of the examination as well as E-forms for them to apply.
The Successful Candidates Pages gives some information about past successful candidates and where the examination was held. There are also specimen questions for Part 1 of the examination as well as a suggested reading list by a trainee.
The European Examination was designed for all trainees who wished to be certified and have reached a standard that is acceptable to the European Board. They should have completed all their training in a recognised training centre in Europe.
The Register held by the EBPS has over 1100 registered "bone fide" paediatric surgeons. It also include all those who have passed the examination and have been registered by the EBPS.
